About the Band
Open Door Band is a beginning concert band in The Villages, Florida — created for residents who want to learn or return to music in a supportive, structured setting.
We combine music theory and full-band rehearsals with opportunities to learn about different instruments and the fundamentals of ensemble playing — building both skill and confidence while making music together.
Open Door Band is an independent Resident Lifestyle Group within The Villages community. While we share a love of community music, Open Door Band is not affiliated with or sponsored by Bands of The Villages (BOTV).
About the Director
Amy Krauss brings over four decades of musical experience as a performing woodwind musician in concert bands, chamber groups, and community ensembles. She is known for her strong sense of time, confident leadership in small-group settings, and her ability to guide musicians of all levels with clarity and calm.
In addition to her musical background, Amy has extensive professional training and facilitation experience — including corporate instruction, curriculum development, and group learning design. She blends those skills with her musical expertise to create a structured, encouraging environment where adult beginners can learn comfortably and returners can rebuild skills with confidence.
Amy’s passion is helping adults rediscover the joy of music-making through clear instruction, supportive pacing, and shared success.
